I also played with alsamixer -V all command but I had no success. But it will not fire under any other condition. Upon investigating everything seemed to check out in the Realtek HD audio manager, and even when I do a test sound the subwoofer will work. However I noticed that my subwoofer no longer works. Then I found out that this method may not be so useful because the information in is outdated. I recently upgraded my motherboard/CPU/Ram, along with that did a fresh format and install of Windows 10. The file HD-Audio-Models.txt doesn't contain the model for ALC668. I tried to modify /etc/modprobe.d/nf but I can't find the correct model to put into: options snd-hda-intel model= There is no hardware issue since in windows 8 everything works perfectly(external subwoofer included). I have no problem when I'm using the headphones. The problem is: the internal speakers don't work.
